New rule

A new "no more than six together outside" rule goes into effect today and includes coffee gatherings, only this time around subject to fines.

Waffling

What better on a rainy day in Paris than an afternoon of homemade waffles, chilled apple cider and spiced coffee....

The batter for these French gaufres, a family recipe of a friend's grandmother in Burgundy, is made with yeast. Their background flavor reminded me of my mother's delectable small Bohemian yeast pancakes that were usually preceded by a traditional vegetable soup with potatoes and cabbage. Accompanied by cinnamon sugar and melted butter, they'd disappear the second they flipped out of the pan. - BPJ

Rule of 6

An apéro evening in early September when hopes were high that this would be over by now.

***

Many have been asking whether not adhering to the government "Rule of 6" carries with it a fine. Here's the rule in time for Friday night... keeping in mind that this is for the safety and health of everyone:

Covid-19 : pas plus de six personnes “à table ou dans la rue... une recommandation plutôt qu'une obligation"

Covid-19: no more than six persons "at table or in the street... a recommendation more than an obligation" - BPJ

Santé!

"Santé!" (to your health...), the standard toast in French, has never seemed so apt.
