Tiny sign points the way to the Dalí museum in Montmartre.

Salvador Dalí's time in Montmartre included addresses on rue Lamarck and, more famously, rue Becquerel, where he joined Gala, wife of poet Paul Eluard whom he'd met in Cadaqués, Spain, and with whom he left, and that was that.

Surrealism Sunday

Designed like a maze, the "Surréalisme" exhibition is an unprecedented dive into the exceptional creative effervescence of the Surrealist movement, born in 1924 with the publication of André Breton’s founding Manifesto.

Combining paintings, drawings, films, photographs and literary documents, the exhibition presents works by the movement’s iconic artists (Salvador Dalí, René Magritte, Giorgio de Chirico, Max Ernst, Joan Miró), as well as those by the female Surrealists (including Leonora Carrington, Ithell Colquhoun, Dora Maar)....

Dalí: tout simplement

At the age of six, Salvador Dali (1904-1989) wanted to be a cook. At the age of seven, he wanted to be Napoleon. "Since then," he later said, "my ambition has steadily grown, and my megalomania with it. Now I want only to be Salvador Dali, I have no greater wish."

Espace Dalí

"The thermometer of success is merely the jealousy of the malcontents." -
Salvador Dalí

Salvador Dalí loved Paris and today, after months of renovation, the museum-gallery Espace Dalí re-opens its doors in Montmartre where few realize the Catalan artist resided, at 7 rue Becquerel.
