Paris' old architecture is well known but there are a great many innovative modern structures as well.

May 1st is the Fête du Travail when vendors will be on almost every corner selling muguets.

Unseasonably warm weather and an evening stroll on the Left Bank led to:

- Glorious planche mixte (charcuteries, cheeses) to accompany then
- Mediterranean mussels and prawns à l'ail
